Pete,

I guess then all of the grim faces I saw at the last meeting of the DC Y2K workgroup were due to their finding out that they would no longer be able to scam their bosses for more money in the IT budget on a Y2K related pretext... :0)

Thanks for clearing that up for me. I mean, after all, these were just the folks who are charged with making their systems Y2K compliant for their individual firms/agencies.

And all of that idle chatter they engaged in about developing serious contingency plans in case of anticipated major systemic failures was just a means of justifying taking off from work early that day.

Hmmm..... And I thought I could read people better than that....

Regards,

Ron

Pete,

If you don't agree with me, then why not discuss the critical severity of Y2K with Mr. Ed Yardeni. (Remember, he is normally an optomist.. :0)

Pete,

I almost have the same background as you (worked for EDS, 13 years
experience, only don't know anyone at Perot Systems, except Ross)
but are hearing totally different stories. Still met no one who
says it's only a serious, not critical problem.

And don't forget that the Y2k-problem need to solved in a period
that there already is a tremendous shortage of IT-personel.

Anyhow, so far you are right, let's see what the future brings.

Paul
