They don't do investigative journalism with a search for truth. They are biased entertainment organizations filled with liberals who have a very specific agenda of whipping up frenzy and narrative to get eyeballs and to destroy Trump. It's what sells that they care about, not about truth or minimizing human suffering. I find it all disgusting. Where was the news when Cuomo sent 4,000 infected patients back to the nursing homes, guaranteeing mass death among our elderly? Where was journalism when the data told us quite clearly early on that this virus is particularly lethal for people over 70 or with heart or lung disease, diabetes, or obesity? Where was the unbiased and nuanced journalism that could have suggested that Dr. Fauci is not a god, and that a more nuanced and targeted response could have helped us avoid mass economic destruction and the loss of 40 million jobs and all the deaths from poverty and despair and undiagnosed ailments of all those people that now avoid hospitals for fear of catching COVID? In business, when people presented to me black and white, binary choices to solve a problem and laced it with hyperbole and hyperventilation about apocalyptic outcomes if we didn't make a quick decision, I always slowed everything down and demanded more information, until my subordinates would come back with a more nuanced understanding of the data and a range of options along with an analysis of the negatives consequences of each option. I've found that rarely in life is a one size fits all solution, the best solution. Usually, targeted solutions that vary based on the strata within the data are far better at maximizing outcomes across all strata. We chose to ignore smart thinkers and to follow crazy apocalyptic and draconian authoritarians. Now, we get the consequences of that, which are guaranteed to be far worse than the 100K deaths we've already experienced and the next 100K we're likely to experience from COVID.
