And you, my dear Jane, are one of those I hate not to see each day, when I check into SI. Your "platitudes" may seem a bit shallow to you on a dark day, but they have uplifted me many times in the month or so that it took me to read through this thread. I don't know if you realize how enjoyable it is to watch the interplay between the personalities here; Gregor pontificating and you playing the "high church Tory" at times and so forth.
Do I take it you fear the tribulations are coming? I don't worry about it. For one thing, when I was a teenager I read books about how the current events of the time were signs of the imminent apocalypse. (remember "The Late Great Planet Earth?) Of course, those things all changed completely 8-odd years ago, none of these things having happened. The apocalypse has been predicted as imminent for nearly 2000 years now.
Then there's a bit of wisdom I once read in "The Instant Millionaire" which goes something like this: "If you knew you would die tomorrow, would you do anything different today?" "Of course I would." "How presumptuous of you to assume you will not die tomorrow."
When is the end time? For me, it could be tomorrow, in a car crash on the way to work, or tonight with a heart attack. What's the difference? My dad died last August. I'll die someday, no doubt. Barring a rapture (and I don't think I buy into that) we'll all die someday. What difference when, if it be God's will?
(Frankly, not having seen any posts here for a few days, I was afraid the rapture had come and taken all of you, and I missed it).
So carpe diem, chin up and all that. Ken
(Or were you talking about you and Gregor getting wiped out in the market and I'm misreading the whole post, in which case I look quite foolish).

Our Great and Mighty Jeshua, indeed. That is about the only focal point to have from now on until it all turns around, the birds and bees are back, life is wonderful, and all that.

Yeah.....

I am just going to keep my wet blanket on the party over at Signs where it belongs, and stay my usually silly and childish self everywhere else.

:)
