Lets take a long hard look at this animal. As reported back in September, S3 was looking to purchase Cirrus's graphics division. As it turned out, they were probably negotiating a settlement to the tentative patent infringement of Cirrus's products. Things got real bad for the S3ers and they had to withdraw. Suddenly, we hear of the licensing agreement with Rambus! Then the announcement of re-posting past quarter results, then talk of the fab value, then they sell 1/3 interest, then they post q4 results, then they use the cash to buy "certain" graphics patents from Cirrus.

Is it me or does this almost sound orchestrated to you?? It does to me. JMO but it smells like an upcoming consolidation to me. With whom, I do not know but SIII is certainly in a position that is very attractive to someone. If we see a run up in the near future, it won't be in anticipation of earnings.
