"The only reason why second degree murder was included was to appease the mob." That's a good enuf reason, but the mob won't be appeased until they go to jail for something, even if it's (accessory to) involuntary manslaughter.

Chauvin kept his knee on Floyd's neck after he'd passed out. He was trying to kill him and didn't stop till he no longer had a pulse ie.till he was sure the job was done.
