This particular battle over flights is likely meaningless, because Team China now still requires all, meaning every single one irrespective of nationality, arrivals to China to undergo 14-days quarantine at own cost. Given so the restoration of flights would simply result in mostly empty planes expending fuel. We are prepared to stay on in Cape Town, or fly to either Canada or China, or Malaysia, or Singapore, as and when safe and direct (as opposed to via Johannesburg, requiring overland travel as Cape Town airport not yet open) so that we can be quarantined for 14-days in relative comfort and then return to HK for 14-days home quarantine. Right now all arrivals to HK from S Africa requires quarantine at government facility - sh*thole police dorm needing renovation / 14 days of microwave food. The quarantine in China, Canada, Malaysia, and Singapore are either at hotels or own home, and we have access to furnished, staffed, friendly homes in China and Malaysia, and are good with hotels in China, Canada and Singapore. So sure, by all means United and Delta, fly if they really wish, but know it would be loss-making flights.
