Why is GW up 5.5% today and up over 25% over last couple of weeks. Is there some good earnings expected or because the second largest land driller has such a low stockprice?

the board that you mentioned is still a free board. OIl and Gas board on AOL is part of 'AOL's' Motley Fool board, which is part of AOL the proprietary online service, not the AOL.com.
you pay 19.99 per month to access AOL. The Motley Fool message boards, such as Gaming and Oil and Gas are very informative. So is SI. There are very knowledgeable people here. So, it's pointless trying to compare which board is better, but it is well worth paying 20 bucks to heed PEngr's posts on AOL if you are Oil and Gas sector investor.

Thean,

this IS NOT the AOL board. You cannot link to Motley Fool on AOL.

They do maintain 2 sites, one on internet, the other on AOL, but the contents on AOL are much more than those they keep on the net.

Several of the posters on the AOL Motley Fool Oil & Gas board have e-mailed CNBC regarding their coverage of the sector. The motivation behind the decision was "an announcement that Tidewater is an oil driller and therefore the earnings on TWD were effecting the drillers on Tuesday, AM". "They are not an oil driller and to associate them with drillers is a misrepresentation of information"

Suggestions include the training of their reporters in a better understanding of the make-up of this sector and that CNBC should do their homework.

If any on this board want the e-mail address it is--
info@cnbc.com

Wonder if Cramer will incorporate any of this on his visit this morning.

Lois

Thean - The link you provided to the Fool board is not the same board that I am referring to. I believe you have to be a member of AOL to gain access. Yes, the names look the same, but no, this is not the board that P Engr, etc. post to. As I said, the "real" Oil and Gas board has at least 100 posts a day and probably more participants than the SI board. There are a number of people who work or have worked in the industry who post there. Frankly, if one is a serious Oil and Gas investor, it might be worth subscribing.
For example, there was some dicussion on SI of the Goldman Sachs report that came out yesterday, But I noticed BigJet's post went into more detail on AOL and you definitely got a stronger feeling for their position. Big Jet also stated that Goldman Sachs has basically been right the last few years on the price of oil, so the bull case was strengthened in my mind.
Another example - Big Jet has a few friends in high places in the offshore drillers. He occasionally calls them up and asks them what's happening in the marketing department. He psot it, and everyone remains comfortable that offshore rig demand is extremely strong, no matter what the analysts might say. Trapper discusses the merits of LSS vs MAVK vs NSS based on his experience of working w/them. I know you like MDCO. Big Jet thinks very highly of their CEO, apparently knows his track record well. Anyway, you get the drift. Carl
