I don't know. But think about the cost: Every user doubles his speed from 384kpbs to 768kbps, assuming costs him extra (a random number) $200 (so roughly $1 per 2kbps). The web-server must also double its pipe. If it was designed to allow 20 simultaneous hits, it needed 15.4mbps, now it needs 31mbps, if it's still $1 per 2kbps, the web-server must pay $8000, let alone to upgrade the server itself. Looks like mathematically prohibitive.

Great! Who supplies the backbone?

Ascend (ASND) has 25% share of ATM core switching. Others big players include NN, NT, BAY and CSCO. Any increase in internet demand, such as through large-scale DSL deployment, is great for all of these players.
