I hope there is no other bidder,
don't know dell's reaction.
they are thinking to short term.
but, dell will make the money next two qtrs.
DEC and CPQ can mesh, it's just that DEC needs 30k less people, or maybe it's 20k less.
cpq DOESN'T LIKE TO STRING BET THE LAYOFFS.
it's bad for morale.
they will wait and do it right.
try to make one well planned layoff and convince the compnay. this is it. we do the rest with retiremnets.
You can't work the cpq job and constantly worry about your job.,
cpq likes to have people feel open to voice opinion.
morale would suffer if they contantly have to worry about layoffs.
the restructuring of plants will take time.
Ive been on the cpq layoff planning team.
we wanted one layoff and get it over with.
