BOMBSHELL: John Bolton Says Reelection Is ‘Only Thing That Matters’ To Trump...and he does care to commit TREASON or DESTROY THE NATION to get it
The former national security adviser says the president has no problem “endangering or weakening the nation” if it helps him win reelection.

Former national security adviser John Bolton claims in his forthcoming book that every decision President Donald Trump has made in office has been “driven by reelection calculations.”

Bolton’s publisher, Simon & Schuster, shared the remarks Friday in a news release promoting the book, which details Bolton’s year and a half working for Trump. The president fired Bolton in September.

“I am hard-pressed to identify any significant Trump decision during my tenure that wasn’t driven by reelection calculations,” Bolton writes, saying he was often “astonished” by Trump’s singular motivation.

Bolton, one of the most controversial figures in American foreign policy, described Trump as a “president for whom getting reelected was the only thing that mattered, even if it meant endangering or weakening the nation.”

The former adviser also argues in the book excerpts that the House committed impeachment malpractice by leading a trial focused narrowly on Trump’s transgressions with Ukraine, and that the House should have also explored similar foreign policy violations Trump has committed elsewhere. It’s currently unclear what other incidents Bolton has in mind.

“Trump’s Ukraine-like transgressions existed across the full range of his foreign policy — and Bolton documents exactly what those were, and attempts by him and others in the Administration to raise alarms about them,” the Simon & Schuster news release states.

But Bolton wasn’t willing to speak out against the president when it really mattered: during Trump’s impeachment trial. At the time, Bolton threatened a legal battle if Congress subpoenaed him and ultimately did not testify in the proceedings. Reports during the lead-up to the impeachment trial alleged Bolton’s opposition to appearing was rooted in a desire to distance himself from being implicated in any crimes.

Bolton’s book, “The Room Where It Happened,” is scheduled for release June 23.

Who's Up For A Purge?

[ Fire all the generals, the Trump culters say. Putin loves it. ]

The speaker, the venue, and the message were all important. Not only does the military continue to draw the line, it is doing so with clarity and force, reminding us that it is not the plaything of the president. And it is yet another indication that Trump is losing the culture war he has been counting on. Via NBC:

The Pentagon's top general discussed resigning amid criticism over his participation in President Donald Trump's controversial photo opportunity at a Washington church, three defense officials familiar with the matter told NBC News.

Army Gen. Mark Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, apologized over the incident Thursday, saying, "I should not have been there."

The apology came after 10 tumultuous days for Milley, which involved a flash of anger at an Oval Office meeting over the use of active-duty troops to quell protests and culminated in his speaking with confidants about whether he should resign over the staged visit at St. John's Episcopal Church, the officials said.

Retired Four General Barry McCaffrey was quick to praise Milley.

But the reaction from TrumpWorld was quick angry, and predictable. (H/T Christian Vanderbrouk)

Hugh Hewitt's radio backup:

Exit take: For much of the right, "duty and honor" have been swapped out for "loyalty to Trump." There is no other standard.

Melania Trump Delayed White House Arrival to Negotiate a Better Prenup, Says Report

‘TAKING CARE OF BARRON’

Reuters / Carlos Barria

Remember back in 2017 when, after her husband’s inauguration, Melania Trump stayed behind in New York City, supposedly so that their son, Barron, could finish the school year uninterrupted? Well, according to a new book, the first lady used that delay in her arrival as leverage to help her negotiate better financial terms in her prenuptial agreement with the president. Washington Post reporter Mary Jordan writes in her new book, The Art of Her Deal: The Untold Story of Melania Trump, that the new first lady was upset about campaign revelations regarding Trump’s alleged sexual indiscretions and the notorious “grab them by the pussy” Access Hollywood tape. Jordan writes that Melania delayed her arrival at the White House to give her time to cool off and “to amend her financial arrangement with Trump—what Melania referred to as ‘taking care of Barron.’”
