I am SO VERY SORRY to read about Vendit passing. He was one of the nicest, most generous persons on SI - or anywhere else on the internet. He was a true gentleman! My utmost sympathy and prayers to his family.

Vendit, passed away this morning. I will really miss him along with the others here. We got along fine and were pretty friendly via private email. He's in good hands now.

This is truly a tragedy. My sincere condolences go out to his family and friends. Vendit was truly one of the great people on SI, and a good friend. He always had helpful comments and kind words for others. He will be greatly missed. Rest in peace, my friend.

SItizen Reid or Citizenry Oh Carolyn no, such sad news. Vendit was exactly as a SItizen should be, many will miss him personally, many reflections of his contributions can be seen woven into the fabric we all share. His legacy will live on in so many others who do as he did, his character part of the script, his patterns forever etched into the new land. You cannot ever replace an original, once it is lost, it is gone, but representations always exist. For those who knew Vendit on SI the impression was permanent. Always helpful, always friendly and very knowledgeable. Vendit belonged in the new land and it really showed, he made people comfortable here. And by being who he was Reid made starting here easier for a lot of people. He had a natural way with this medium. His contributions to SI over the last generation were evident. Goodbye Reid, SI will miss your contributions and your presence. Ad astra Vendit
