Computone to Enter Communication Services Market Through Merger With LADIA LLC

ALPHARETTA, Ga.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 10, 1998--Computone Corporation (NASDAQ: CMPT - news) announced today it has entered into an
agreement in principle to merge with LADIA LLC an international and domestic long distance wholesale carrier.

Headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts, LADIA provides wholesale domestic and international telephony and data carrier services to corporate customers.
Ladia has focused its long distance telecommunication and telemanagement services on major international carriers, U.S. based debit card and call back
companies as well as boutique international private line carriers.

Tom Anderson, President and CEO of Computone Corporation said ''Ladia represents a significant opportunity for Computone to participate in the rapidly
growing wholesale carrier services market. Our entire organization looks forward to providing LADIA with corporate services and assistance in managing its
aggressive growth plans.''

Barry Spillberg, Chief Operating Officer of LADIA LLC commented that ''Computone will provide a solid platform and corporate infrastructure to aggressively
expand existing customer activity and leverage our marketing and sales capacity. The continuing deregulation of international markets combined with technological
advances is expected to heighten the level of competition within the telecommunications industry making LADIA's competitive array of telephony products and
services uniquely productive for its customer base. During the summer of 1998, we expect to complete a facilities-based long distance carrier network consisting
of twenty (20) leased Excel switches and two (2) international gateway partitions, thereby creating a cost effective and enhanced variety of international and
domestic telephony services.''

The two companies expect to complete the proposed combination within the next 90 days. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed. Computone Corporation
designs and manufactures an extensive line of 200 - 921.6Kbps communications servers (modular and rack mount) for Ethernet TCP/IP LANs, remote access,
