Multiple Comments -

#1 - I have 5 of the emerging technolgies covered. I got a 3COM Palm Pilot (Personal Digital Assistant) for Christmas. I love it. I am only late half as much and when I am, I know what I am missing.

#2 - Clinton also got a "standing O" when he vowed to protect the privacy of personal medical records. This is good. I am surprised the NRiD guys aren't having a self-administered O over this news since they think they are the only ones in the biometric software market for medical applications. Apparently they were watching the Cartoon Network last night.

#3 Lockheed's IAFIS - I do not believe there are any tenprinters hooked up directly to the FBI's AFIS in Washington. Livescanned fingerprints are submitted electronically from remote locations (local police stations). It is the local law enforcement agencies and gov't agencies in the field that control the purchase of the livescan hardware. That is where Identix fits in. Also, all INS fingerprints submitted electronically are currently scanned on TP600s.

LM controls the purchase of livescanners on welfare fraud prevention and other contracts they bid on. IDX and Lockheed have a good working relationship for both tenprinters and single finger units. Although LM also uses DBII tenprinters accasionally and Identicator single finger units as much as Identix single finger scanners, I believe our tenprinter relationship with LM has been enhanced by the recent LM / NEC teaming agreement for Europe. Time shall tell.

#4 - $9 is cheap. In my mind the question is not If IDX will make a killing in biometrics, but when. The short-term picture is a little cloudy right now, but the downside appears to be limited. When the contracts get announced and Randy elaborates on his Master Plan, clarity will return and we will go higher. I hope this happens before summer vacation so I can visit all my relatives again without fearing for my life.
