Mindmeld, I read that he used the Secret Service personnel to push the protestors back a block. It was federal troops. Technically Trump is allowed to use federal troops as well as commandeer the National Guard (which is normally under the control of state governors) in order to quell civil unrest. This authorization goes all the way back to the 1807 Insurrection Act. It was last invoked during the 1992 Rodney King riots in Los Angeles, and before that, during the riots of the 1960s. However, I've been told by an army vet that the military abhors having to turn on its own citizens. The National Guard is one thing, but federal troops is something entirely different, at least in the context of quelling domestic matters. There's a lot to explain here, and even I don't fully understand it, but it's a matter of military professionalism. Hence if Trump is going to invoke such a power, it should be put to good use. A photo op at a local church is NOT a good use of said power. Legally it's fine, but it was arguably irresponsible behavior. And for what? To pose for a photo while holding a Bible? That isn't even theologically defensible. Politically it was stupid. And the media got another opportunity to demonstrate their righteous indignation. And Trump proves once again that hardly anything he does is justifiable outside of the context of liberal hypocrisy. Tenchusatsu

A good example is the "accusation" that President Donald John Trump "ordered" the USA's Military to clear the area for him so that he could walk across the road from the White House and make a Gesture of Solidarity, against ANTIFA TERRORISTS AND BLM THUGS, in front of a church that had been DESECRATED by members of that MOB, that has, HISTORICALLY, been a place of worship by countless presidents before him. If one LISTENS VERY, VERY, VERY CAREFULLY to what the Attorney General of the United States of America has said on this subject, IT WILL BECOME BLATANTLY OBVIOUS THAT THE "ACCUSATION" LEVELED AT PRESIDENT DONALD JOHN TRUMP IS UTTER AND COMPLETE BULLSHIT, ... to put it in true perspective. Here is what Attorney General Bill Barr has PUBLICLY STATED ON THAT PARTICULAR TOPIC .......... ........ If the listener had been listening VERY, VERY, VERY CAREFULLY to what Attorney General Bill Barr stated, the listener would have heard that the 82nd Airborne Military Police had been PUT ON STANDBY, OUTSIDE OF WASHINGTON DC, IN CASE THEY MAY HAVE BEEN REQUIRED TO MAKE THEIR PRESENCE FELT DUE TO THE RIOTING AND DESTRUCTIVE BEHAVIOUR OF THAT LOOTING, RIOTING, ARSONIST MOB THAT HAD BEEN RUNNING WILD OVER THE PREVIOUS SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. The 82nd Airborne Military Police were there TO BE USED AS A LAST RESORT.
