George--Short Interest Very Bullish for Future.......

Lot of pent up buying if we get good news out of company, and general market becomes more friendly to investors. Looks like XOMA is a good bet for long term price growth. Any unexpected and bullish news could spark a very powerful move up in this stock. On - balance the risk-reward relationship appears positive. Off the subject--you may want to take a look at Cytel (CYTL)--very depressed--but recent insider buying by two individuals I follow--indicates something may happen--H. Greene just bought 142K shares in open mkt at $1.75, and D. Mahoney just bought 20K shares in open market at $1.50. Also, just revealed that Wisconsin Investment Board--just increased their position. Science appears intact--could be a real sleeper, that re-invents itself in 1998. I have been adding to position in CYTL.

George,
Thanks. We have 20+ million shares out, so the 1MM figure is not too worrysome. If it started climbing to 1/4 of the float I would be concerned.

Was checking out a theory that the DJIA's 11 highest beta stocks can be formed into their own index and used as a leading indicator for the DJIA. Went looking for beta readings and stumbled on this site:
rapidresearch.com
(they show S, TRV, HWP, MRK, IBM, GE, IP, ALD, AXP, KO, & PG as the top 11)
It seems to be free, I did a little data mining besides just looking at tickers and did not run into the dreaded "user ID/Password" dialogue box. If you want to go directly to Xoma's quote (quotes are quite detailed BTW):
rapidresearch.com
They are showing Xoma with 46 instatutional(SP? you know you've been in a foreign country too long when you begin to forget how to spell simple words) holders holding 6.4% of the stock. I could see no way to date the info.
