>>If you want to see what a little image management can do, look at AOL--approx. the same earnings/share (actually IOM, at least on a cumulative basis has earned more) and AOL is at 90+ while IOM is at 8 and sinking. What's the difference? AOL cares about their stockholders and has been very conscientious about shaping a future image of the company that is positive. . . IOM apparently couldn't give shit what happens to those who own their stock. Even though I hate AOL, it almost makes me want to own the stock. . .<<

Brent -

Unfortunately, Edwards is in a kind of double-bind with respect to the image the company portrays. In the past, he has been accused of being a hypester when he spoke about the potential market for Zip, etc. I believe that the real hypesters were always here and on the Fool board, but still that was the rap about KE.

In response to the claims he was a hypester, Edwards toned down his act and started to be more conservative. Now it appears he may have overcorrected.

But I can tell you one thing. If KE starts making announcements about how well the company is doing, and how the future looks bright, etc., it won't help the stock price. People will just start calling him a hype machine again.
