The American dollar is now so highly esteemed one stops to ponder if the American dollar is perhaps overvalued? This is the same country that owes five and one half trillion dollars in federal debt but is presently the toughest kid on the world block. So goes the price of gold, thermometer to the US dollar. The stronger the dollar is perceived, lower gold, weaker dollar higher gold prices. President Clinton's plan maybe to inflate, under the guise of adding market liquidity, leading to a weaker dollar prompting a sustained rise in the perceived value of gold. Hah! Hah!
