RE:Tour De France

Sorry to hear about your shoulder. Did it require surgery? I have never tacoed a wheel but have had my share of crashes, one involved a truck in the Colorado mountains... Luckily just lost a LOT of skin. I ride ENVE rims and they are hard to destroy. Had a really strange accident last year where my tire blew and the inner tube came off the rim as well as the tire. The inner tube prevented my rear wheel from turning as it wound around the gears and brake calipers. I didn't crash but the rear wheel was immobile and I was fishtailing all over the road.

Since it was rim on concrete, it took a lot of damage and ENVE gave me new rims ( I had to pay a fee but the rims were worth 5 times the fee and was an upgrade to what i had. )

You have to be really careful when they mix in runners, walkers, dog walkers, roller bladers and sometimes horse back riders.

I had to contend with a few clowns today who were social distancing across the road.

Once I rode into Antifa in my local park and had to go off road because they has the road blocked and about 10 police cars were there. Thought about breaking their blockade as it was my titanium Moots with aero bars. I might have skewered one or two.

Sorry to hear that you were hurt on your bike. Even the best of riders can get wiped out in a second.

My son-in-law had a car turn left right in front of him and he ended up on his back in the middle of a four-lane highway with his leg bare bone touching the pavement. Both his leg and hip were broken - and his bent helmet probably saved his life.

He's fine now, but it took a long time for that leg-bone to heal. And I will never forget what I saw when my daughter and I first got to the hospital.

Biking is a hazardous activity. That is why I have been so happy with finding Spinning. With Covid I have returned to outdoor biking. I have almost four months now of outdoor riding and have given me good learning on reading faces of drivers. Eye contact with drivers is critical. Cars with tinted windows are a particular hazard.

I am anxious to return to Spin.
