StockMan and Thread: I seem to remember Intel saying that Pentium II transition was proceeding as planned, maybe even faster than expected.

In your link, John Joseph, of Montgomery Securities, says:

"Demand for Pentium II is really beginning to take off now that Intel has cut the price," he said. Computer vendors have also said that demand for the processor has ramped up in the past month.

Does this mean the Pentium II transition is depending on the new, cacheless chip to meet expectations on the original Pentium II?

Just trying to understand reality vs. projections.

StockMan, <<PentiumII demand/sales increasing?>>

I believe the exact phrase used was - "Demand for Pentium II is really beginning to take off."
