--We cannot really even do that..--

what are you referring to?
are you saying you are unwilling to agree to disagree?
if so, that's interesting.

look, i've commented previously on si about how unions are weak and have been
hijacked by the private sector, to the disadvantage of union members. this is not
statement that 'all unions are good'. in reality, it's statement that unions are less
than good. your misinterpretation suggests there's something else going on...
something else i've mentioned that you disagree with.

maybe you are a neoliberal opportunist and dislike my comments about that.
or maybe you think 'all managers are good' and disagree with my concerns
about management harming employees... for example, workplace stress
created by inhumane performance objectives... or maybe it's something else i've
mentioned over the years. dunno. what is it, black swan?

your experience with teachers relates to canada but you are applying it to the
u.s.. are you familiar with right-to-work laws that restrict unions in 27 u.s. states?

"... by making it harder for workers’ organizations to sustain themselves financially,
state RTW laws aim to undermine unions’ bargaining strength... RTW laws lower
wages and benefits, weaken workplace protections, and decrease the likelihood
that employers will be required to negotiate with their employees
... EPI research shows that RTW laws do not have any positive impact on job growth."

geez, so what is it?
