Tenchu's Thoughts: Liberals can never take what they dish out ten times over

By now, some of you may have heard of Claira Janover, the Harvard grad and social justice warrior whose offer with Deloitte, a major consulting firm, was rescinded as a result of a violent TikTok video she posted in support of Black Lives Matter:

Harvard grad Claira Janover says she’s lost Deloitte job over TikTok ‘stab threat’

In short, she posted a video on TikTok attacking those who say "All Lives Matter." Here are her exact words:
I’ma stab you, and while you’re struggling and bleeding out, I’ma show you my paper cut and say, ‘My cut matters, too.'
When that video went viral, it caused quite a stir, and it forced Deloitte to rescind a job offer they originally made to her. In reaction, she posted videos crying about it and claiming that "Trump supporters" caused her to lose her job.

(There is also a report out there saying that Claira Janover never did work for Deloitte, but she claims that she had a two-week temporary job offer that would eventually lead to a full-time position. More on that below.)

Her response

Well, she's not staying silent about this whole episode. Here is an article that she wrote on Medium.com explaining her side of the story:

Medium.com - What Happened to Claira Janover

If you want, you can read her rant in its entirety. Suffice to say that she STILL misses the point.

But before we get to The Point, I want to address three things about her rant.

It's just an analogy, I wasn't really threatening anyone!

She goes to great lengths to legally cover herself for what she said:
Those who claim I should be criminalized in any capacity know this is a legally unfounded claim. The first result of googling “rhetorical hyperbole” is a comprehensive list of Supreme Court decisions protecting rhetorical hyperbole, both in and out of political context, under the First Amendment. Watts v. The United States (1969) established that even the content of a potential threat being used as a “crude political hyperbole” was not considered a true threat and was therefore protected by the First Amendment. The Supreme Court’s per curiam ruling stated, “the language of the political arena…is often vituperative, abusive, and inexact.”
Yeah yeah, so what? She has the right to say what she said, and it's almost laughable that anyone should take that as a legitimate threat. At least she acknowledges that her "analogy" wasn't productive:
However, I am not here in protection of free speech. I fully acknowledge promoting violence in any literal capacity is never a productive strategy.
But then she goes on a tirade against those who exaggerated her violent intentions and pointed out how vile and mean her detractors on social media were. She of course posts a screenshot of some of the worst comments she got, because you know, there's nothing better than to portray ALL the criticism against you as extreme:

(Yeah, that's pretty bad. I hope the guy who posted that gets doxxed and banned.)

Yet here's the clincher. She defends her hypocrisy by calling other people "hypocrites" ...
Yet the hypocrisy of All Lives Matter supporters who responded to “Defund the Police” with “I’ll run over protesters with a car to protect blue lives,” went unaddressed.
Went unaddressed, she said? WOW. I can tell her this, they did NOT go unaddressed. In fact, THAT'S THE POINT! Her violent rhetoric was no different than those threatening to run over protesters with a car.

Hypocrites calling hypocrites hypocrites. What nihilism. What a pathetic way to defend yourself.

I'm a victim, boo hoo!
I became a scapegoat and poster-child for liberal elitism to all those invested [in my downfall].
I am not writing this piece to get my job back, I am writing to reclaim my identity.
To my detractors, I exist at the convenient four-way intersection of their disposition to see the BLM movement as inherently violent, their desire to seek revenge for cancel culture, their distaste for liberal elites, and their simultaneous hatred and hypersexualization of women and Asians.
Though discrediting and humiliating an individual is a common prosecution tactic, the one-sided way information is transmitted in the press and media gave me no opportunity to defend myself. And even when news outlets had the opportunity to contact me for my side of the story, they chose not to.
So she was supposedly this innocent little Harvard grad who just wanted to support BLM. She made a video on TikTok using an unfortunate analogy, and all of a sudden the vast right-wing conspiracy came around and "stole her identity" like a mugger steals a cell phone from a victim.

And of course, they did it because they hate BLM, they hate cancel culture, they hate liberal elitists, they hate women, and they hate Asians.

Pardon me for saying this, but she needs to fuckin' get over herself.

I mean yeah, she did graduate from Harvard. And as the old joke goes, "How many Harvard grads does it take to change a light bulb? One. He holds the light bulb, and the world revolves around him."

But her college pedigree isn't going to save her this time. Having a degree from Harvard isn't going to grant you immunity from shooting yourself in the fuckin' foot.

Besides, I'm sure she can easily find another job with a top firm. Or she can be hired by a news agency, or get connected with her fellow Harvard alum and start something big. I know several Harvard alums, and they are all starting their own companies or serving as executives or lawyers or chief scientists in high profile areas.

That Harvard degree is worth a LOT, and for her to act oh-so-victimized by a cancel culture that, quite frankly, she helped to create is beyond pitiful.

The evil corporations are after me!
Corporations gaslight, humiliate, terrify, and intimidate employees who retaliate or push back in an attempt to silence and subordinate them. This is exactly what Deloitte and the media provided in response to right-wing aggression against me.
Finally, in her infinite wisdom, she takes Deloitte to task because they dared to throw her under the bus. Instead of standing up for her and her stance on social justice issues, they supposedly took the "coward's" way out and dissociated themselves from her.

In response to those who recognize that her analogy wasn't really a threat, but that she deserved what she got, here is her response:
Firstly, I never said Deloitte’s decision to rescind my job was unjustified or irrelevant, though I found the company’s actions spineless, cowardly, and driven by the desire to save face by sweeping my name under the rug. And I do not consider any of my TikToks or public statements to be immune from judgement or controversy. I am not denying my role in contributing to the contentious public perception of my values or responsibility. But comments claiming that I could have worded my TikTok more politely, or that my response depicts me as entitled whiny brat who is butthurt about her lost job and fixating on Deloitte, are missing the point. Again, I am not writing this statement to present a legal case for my job back or my freedom of speech. Rather, I am critiquing Deloitte’s handling of the situation because I find its hypocrisy worthy of public dissection.
Really? Deloitte was being cowardly for firing her? Or more accurately, withdrawing their job offer to her?

So let me get this straight. A company fires someone for saying "All Lives Matter." I'm sure she would consider that company to be "stunning and brave."

But if a company fires a BLM supporters for saying "Imma stab you," that company is spineless, cowardly, and hypocritical.

Once again, if it weren't for double standards, liberals would have no standards.

Cancel culture is a double-edged sword

That brings me to the bottom line, which she missed because quite frankly she's a selfish millennial with a sociopathic sense of entitlement.

Cancel culture cuts both ways. It's a double-edged sword.

She blames right-wingers for lying about her, getting her fired, stealing her "identity" as a human being, and reducing her to a caricature. But she has no idea that thousands of other innocent people, especially conservatives, have had the exact same thing happen to them. And it was her and her allies on the left who did that to them.

Maybe one of these days, she'll grow up and mature. Not even Harvard grads can live in a bubble for the rest of their lives.

But judging from the liberals on this thread, who can't take what they can dish out ten times over, the chances of her growing up are slim.
