Re <<water boil>>

... and different altitudes, surrounding ambient temperature, water purity, etc etc :0)

(1) Questions:

(1-i) What do you guess the maximum time span is before we know herd-immunity is in place in any particular location?

(1-ii) Where?

(1-iii) What would it mean for herd immunity if all neighboring regions are not covered by herd-immunity but continue to travel through all neighboring herds?

(1-iv) How long do you guess the immunity is good for?

(2) We could, OTOH, be looking at true-bad-news, and if so, very bad.

Am of course concerned for the next generations.

Liquids will boil depending on how much the molecules move around and how often they bump into one another...like people in a disorganized herd. But why not just look at the equation for herd immunity?

Where R is the average number of new infections caused by an infected person and S is the proportion that is susceptible to infection.

R depends on many things including population density, population behavior, disease contagiousness, etc.
S depends on antibodies and overall immune system health.

Social distancing is about temporarily/artificially lowering R. Some countries have managed to artificially lower their R enough to squash the spread, but as Ant pointed out that only leaves them open indefinitely for wave one.
