Herb good observation of a potential DOJ hurdle for AAPL

DOJ resists any combination where purchasing choices are restricted .
FileMaker Inc. as a AAPL subsidary could limit Oracle's involvement .

Your link on Bloomberg's posting old AAPL news as "news" didn't link
so here it - go to AAPL's story :
stlnet.com

With this , and the 10 k "dwindling sales" MULTI-repeat , can't help
but believe somebody is trying to shake loose some of Power's new AAPL
shares .

Herb,

Idle speculation on the FileMaker?Claris deal...

>>JR, Do you think that [if sold off] Apple might be getting FileMaker Pro out of the way of a potential Apple/Oracle synergy soon to be exploited?<<

I had a similar thought. Maybe this restructuring is happening to prepare for an Oracle buyout of FileMaker.

Here's the logic:

1) Oracle has no use for other Claris products.
2) Get's Oracle into the Small Business/Home Business market with
a strong product which rivals hated MicroSoft products.
3) Could be a trade between the two companies. What else does Apple have to offer to Oracle? Maybe there is an implicit deal going on between Ellison and Jobs. Maybe Apple will get a quid pro quo.
4) Apple gets to keep Claris Works which strenghthens its OS value.

Any one else have any idea's about this? There has got to be more to it.
