The periodic table is interesting. Lithium is first in line before sodium and potassium. Just beside calcium and magnesium. All essential ingredients to make people.

Along the other end are carbon, nitrogen, oxygen and nitrogen being the basic building blocks. Then phosphorous, sulphur, chlorine, selenium, iodine. In the metals iron zinc copper etc.

Just considering Li position I guess it does have essential function.

I wonder what the distribution of blood level is in people by geography. Epidemiology has probably already got a good view on lithium and metabolic function and health effects.

Maybe lithium is a nutrient rather than medical treatment which is all I've known it as for mentally distressed people.
