yes the lab charges for covid are not adjusted down at this time but no worries, CMS will nail every lab in 2021 with its annual reimbursement cuts to 90-95% of all other testing categories.

I'm sure 2021 covid test charges (diagnostic and antibody/immunity) will be "re-examined" this fall.

so we enjoy the bone throw cause it aint gonna last.

All private insurance must cover the cost of Covid-19 testing. Period.

It is precisely what happens when governments can dictate to insurance companies what they must do.

No competition for pricing, insurance companies get it.

OTOH, their profits are both limited and guaranteed by regulatory infrastructure. At the end of the day, the health care insurer is a pass-through entity. Revenue & expense comes in, premiums are set accordingly with a profit margin. The only way to make more money is more, better market share.

I'm not an insurance hater, but it gets 10x worse every 10 years.
