It sounds that China had a long periods of relatively few rains - and that revived the ambitious old idea about putting the mighty Yangtze to work. Now, they got a once in several decades super heavy rain season - and it’s a disaster.

Our entire civilization, in many ways, is built on an expectation that everything will go well. And now — a moderately serious virus strikes - and, in our hubris, we decide to “control” it - and within weeks we have Depression era unemployment, serious damage to the economy - and the darn virus, undeterred, is still making its way through the populations, with nature taking its course.
