Peter,

PC Quote does show bid/ask size. If it's 6.0 it's one of the fields you can select for the board view. If it's Market Smart the field is size (already there) with a number like 10x5. The first number is the bid size and the second is the ask size. Add two zeros to get the actual number of shares. 6.0 already shows the shares without multiplying times 100.

Say the size is 10x5 and the ask is 49 7/8. If you place an order to sell 200 shares at 49 13/16, the quote price should change to 49 13/16 and the size should change to 10x2 if your order is the one that changes the price. If you offer at 49 7/8, the price stays the same and the size should change to 10x7.

Esteban

<<I use PCQuote real-time, and I don't get the number of shares at the bid/ask for AMEX stocks. Don't know why.>>

If the number of shares doesn't show up on PCQuote for AMEX issues then you might not have real time data for that exchange. I don't get the bid-ask or the sizes for AMEX on Interquote. I didn't want to pay for the exchange fee since I don't trade AMEX stocks that much.
