Intel has at least two short term objectives - dominate all PC market segments - including the "low end" and convert all its CPU's to Pentium II variants.

Their cacheless Pentium II fits both objectives.

If people want PERFORMANCE, they must pay for performance - or wait until the performance level matches the size of their wallet.
