From Deja Vu:

This has got to be the biggest pump and dump scam ever.

Some large investors have bet on it for a reason. They bought a a lot of shares cheap. To be included in the indexes, Tesla has to show 4 quarters of profitability. These investors have basically spent about a few billion buying some Tesla cars at the end of each quarter to help Tesla beat the numbers.

Now they have been buying up all the shares, doubling and tripling the price as they hoover up the last of the "float". That's the shares not held already by institutions and the shares that trade daily.
Once Tesla gets included in the indexes, all the mutual funds and ETFs will have to buy it at the peak value. ANd then these large investors who bought the shares in the 100s and 200s will sell it at $1700 and $1800. Tesla's market cap is around 300 billion.

in return for spending a few billion on the shares and a few billion buying Tesla cars at the end of each quarter for 4 quarters, they spent maybe $10 to $15 billion on shares and cars. They are about to get paid $300 billion in return. About a 2000% return on their investment

The $300 billion is going to come from every American who has a 401 (k). You, me , everyone who has a 401(k) is going to be forced to buy Tesla shares at peak valuation handing 300 billion from our retirement funds to Elon Musk and the guys who are driving this surge in Tesla.
