Monish, in general, the Indian economy is looking very weak. Not withstanding the Asian crisis, people say that the local down-turn can last for a while. Real-estate prices in Bombay crashed. Elsewhere (Bangalore, Madras, Hyderabad) the prices are weak. This is one of many reasons that is having an affect on the Indian economy. I am hoping to write an elaborate note soon. Hopefully by next week.
I guess you can take a look at IFN to track BSE.
