I just sample the echo machine regularly for a few minutes at a time.

I also practice active listening with Republicans or independents I know. I usually start with area we agree, perhaps sports, music, food or tech, or perhaps the beauty of nature.

Because I have also heard the daily propaganda and conspiracies from radio, TV and online -- when I talk to many of the seniors and even young people I know who lean Republican, I'm prepared. I usually know what they are going to say and I make sure I have anticipated calm facts for my responses. They are often disarmed when I tell them where I heard or saw it on FoxNews, Rush or that ilk. I sometimes wash the crap inside their heads in the context of the Declaration and constitution, or even TR, Ike and Reagan or Bush 41. Sometimes I surprise them with some theology -- though I myself am secular and believe in loving kindness as the highest achievement.

Of course the conversation often terminates when they channel Alex Jones or Trump and say my facts are fake - but I am confident of my eventual impact. They can't dispute some of the Jesus quotes.

koan when I drive to/from Quebec from Ontario I tune in often to Marc Levin or Hannity.. it's kinda fun.. Think about the news and see how much auction they will try to put on the ball... That ilk seems to rule the evening talk radio scene...
