Teradyne sees Asian fears overdone:

biz.yahoo.com

+ comments from AMAT in 2 weeks along with decent #'s could lead this group higher. I've been saying for some time now that as a sector, the group could languish at the bottom of the RS scale for only so long before some type of move to the upside was made.

BTW, if AMAT makes its number, the TTM will increase from ~$1.32 to ~$1.75, meaning that applying todays p/e to the stock only 2 weeks from now would yield a price of $43.41. Using a TTM of 30 would yield a price of $52+. Excessive? Last summer, it was almost twice that. Just some food for thought since MSFT and CSCO are hitting new highs, each garnering a p/e of 50 yet growing at or slower than AMAT on average over the next 5 years. How long before AMAT gets to join the party? My guess, if they hit their # and reitierate their guidance, is not too long from now.

Regards,

Brian

Michael, I know just enough about TA to be dangerous. But the volume
looks OK, probably more than average. Closing price was near the day's
high, and if you draw a line along the top of the recent down
trend - today the price broke it. So there's a chance we're entering
a new trend. On the other hand, if you look at the chart below, there
are two days with white candles just like yesterday and today in early
January. The were followed by several down days. But the stock can't
always repeat past patterns, can it?
