If all else fails, then I'll try to match voltage to the old chip, if I go that route.. some of the new machines are cheap and come with 56k modems. UMax sold out in two weeks, its 200mz 32meg ram 3.2 gig with 15" monitor machine for 899.00.

I did convert a 486 to a dedicated midi machine/electronic piano. Then loaded an old Q&A word processor and was surprized at how fast some of the old text based programs were. Not having any gui clutter really speeds things up.
