COREL'S NEXT PRICE MOVE: Ok, there has been a lot of chatter, chatter, chatter about a possible IBM takeover of Corel. Since a lot of people might get suckered into buying this stock and then lose a lot of money because of this rumor, it is time for some reasoned analysis. First, the analysts have been revising downward the estimates on this stock like crazy. In the last two weeks, earnings estimates for FY1 (ending Nov. 1998) have gone down about 400%. In the same time, earnings estimates for FY2 (ending Nov. 1999) have gone down 800%. Now, for those of you unfamiliar with earnings revisions, changes of greater than 10% in a month are highly unusual. And for those of you not familiar with Corel and its stock, you will do well to remember what happened the last time the earnings revisions were saying "sell, sell, sell" while the price and volume changes were saying "buy, buy, buy." It was August, I believe. A certain senior executive (lots of them, actually) at a certain company, was selling LOTS of his personal shares. BUT NOT ALL. Only 25% of his holdings. MEANING HE STILL HAS 75% TO GO! Last time, however, there was a difference. One analyst house had actually raised its rating, helping to generate the volume and price movement. But the lawyers were all over that one, so they could not do that again this time. They needed something else. What could that be? Personally I have no idea. I have no idea what is happening this time. None at all. These are just some thoughts to consider. To change the subject for a minute, does anyone still remember The Who? One of my favorite lines from one of their songs is this. "Don't get fooled again!" OK, back on the subject. The only announcement is that there will be no announcements for yet another six months. And then? Now that we have all gotten acquainted, it is time for a little off topic personal message to connectus_98. Dude, what is wrong with your brain? Are you on crack? Are you smoking vials of crack? Is your head up a crack? I spent a little time over at Yahoo! today. Man you are one sicko. I won't go back there again. If they let people like you endlessely post that kind of obscene drivel without shutting you down, they obviously have no standards. No standards at all. And there is no point in going there. There is no point in anyone going there, since you dominate that thread with your complete nonsense. You have completely discredited yourself. Happy Investing! Vanni
