I do believe that this varies...some have automatic stops, others have parameters that they follow as far as a desired stock to hold. If those change, they sell the stock even if the companies' future is bright. Again this is the STOCK vs. COMPANY syndrome.

It appears that the parameters had changed Thursday afternoon...at least for some. For others, it now fits the bill (not THAT Bill).
