8/7/2020 Contest update (Contest YTD is calculated from 1/3/2020 close.) How many more tick tocks until stock market euphoria fades? Meanwhile, despite some confusing drug-related Executive Orders from Trump, biotechs had a good week with a solid gain by the Contest median. At Friday’s close, the Contest median was up 13.13% YTD (vs. up 3.76% YTD a week ago), the Nasdaq Biotech Index (NBI) was up 15.22% YTD (vs. up 13.70% YTD a week ago), the smaller-cap S&P Biotechnology Select Industry Index (SPSIBI) was up 22.04% YTD (vs. up 16.83% YTD a week ago), while the Nasdaq Composite Index (NCI) was up 22.06% YTD (vs. up 19.12% YTD a week ago). After many weeks in second place JBOG’s portfolio, up 126.44% YTD, jumped back into the Contest lead, with FILO’s portfolio, up 124.77% YTD, dropping to second place. And there’s another newcomer in third place with OLIVIER’s’s portfolio, up 58.54% YTD, taking over. At Friday's close, 30 of the 42 Contest portfolios were in the green, with 18 beating the NBI and 14 still beating the SPSIBI. The 197 Contest stock picks have an average YTD gain of 26.64% with the YTD median back in the green, although barely, with a gain of .18%. Below is the Top Ten list.
