There were few Republicans in the South. Those that were Republican were opposed to the rebellion and to slavery. . The leaders of the Confederacy and the advocates of slavery were all Democrats. In the election of 1864, the Democrat platform for the election to Presidency of the US wanted to sue for peace and let the Confederacy go it's own way. Surely you are not so ignorant to not know these facts?
