I do not consider you far left.

I have far left friends. I live in arguably the most left region on the continent.

Once I traveled and saw how the world lives and how so many of the oppressed and non-privileged dream to come to the USA; I felt significant disconnection with my Marxist and anti-US friends.

BTW, they tend to be highly educated but IMHO locked-in to a sort of cultish dogma and confirmation bias - based on now obsolete evolutionary science, human psychology and political assumptions that were the core-philosophy rages in the 1950's. They are especially obsessed with continued blame for neoliberal capitalism and imperialism promoted nefariously by (1) Israel and (2) the US (usually covert conspiracies.)

Not ironically, I have found in most instances that they have not traveled, or only traveled many years back to the Soviet Union, Cuba, or other LW countries in South and Central America. That's just my anecdotal observation of small numbers, and way too broad, I know.

One other characteristic of the far left I know is raw elitism toward popular culture, including sports, music and performing arts. But that's a subject for another day.
