Glenn, << MCI and NSF >>

the home page is www.vbns.net. It takes awhile to track through
all the menus and sub-menus, but gives a good discription of tomorrows
interactive information system. Clearly fiber is the end high speed
solution. The NSF is the National Science Foundation, where university
research is in the forefront. Government is supplying grants. The end
solution will be access by industy and universities to extremely
powerful data crunching computers. Ultimately, access by individual
users. There's many interesting pieces to the solution. Worth going
through when you have an hour or two to spare. What caught my eye
was the network players are CSCO,ASND, and FORE. Can't believe COMS
and BAY wasn't out there. I know they're into copper solutions, and
maybe that's why.
There's another related government web site if your interested.
I'll post it later. Clearly the government is behind fiber, so that
will be my direction also.
Larry
