Some of this strength is likely coming from the Montgomery Securities Tech Conference in San Francisco. We usually see "love-fest" prices during these events. thestreet.com

It is worth noting that the Nasdaq also broke a trendline today and the psychological resistance at 1600. My time horizion is 2 days, however, I expect AMAT to blow past 33 tomorrow and stall Friday around 35. I give much weight to RSI. The biggest days are usually when stocks cross 60. AMAT, LSI, PLAB, many others, and the NAZ itself are at this point. I am incredibly bullish (on techs)for the first time in months!! - I don't even think Greenspan can mess it up. It will bounce back up in 40 minutes.. . we'll see -jason

stockycd, If AMAT breaks 33 I think we would see a quick run-up in the price of the stock, the next "strong" resistance level is 40. There is currently a lot of the short interest in AMAT and if it breaks to the upside the shorts would be forced to cover their positions or risk margin calls. That means they would be buying the stock fast and furious driving the price up even more. I may be way off base but I don't think we will have to wait too long to know. AMAT is poised to break 33 tomorrow.
