My apologies to the thread. I realized the error in my logic too late to edit/delete the posting.

The Deaths/1M pop is not a death rate per 1M, it is total Deaths per 1M, so of course it is going to be increasing.

Looking at the same chart today (note: Peru snuck into the top 7), all of these countries are reporting higher Deaths / 1M pop. I was actually expecting death rates to trend down, NOT up. I find this to be very concerning!!!
I believe the total deaths per million population will always increase as long as there are any deaths at all, unless the population grows significantly from one day to the next. I believe the number of deaths per day can decrease while the total number of deaths per million population increases.
