Actually my point was not to pick on INTC and MU but entirely something else. I wanted to prompt research and a look at long term price movement of the semis.

Semis (both chips and caps) are mostly cyclicals. And cyclicals don't do secular growth. A comparison of the SOX index with XLK or QQQ (which still includes many of the chips and tech cyclicals) makes this abundantly clear.

You can take a "dumb" approach to investing in cyclicals and come out miles ahead of the smart investors. Simply follow the PE10 approach (or a variation of it such replacing earnings with sales) and you will be much better off than all the technical analysis and clever work that the people do.
