I don't like the idea of paying for permanent students bogus education. Through high school okay, but PhD? Just to remind you that science, engineering, software, ie STEM students get a free ride now through grad school (ie MS and PhD). This includes tuition, r&b, and living stipend.... They are working on Assistantships from Professors... There must be a few on SI.. However most of the PhD' candidates are Asian, ie Chinese, Indian, Pakistan...

Here is the thinking pattern of right wingers versus left wingers. The right wing pre- suppose things like poor people are lazy or stupid and then they defend that position. They don't take it apart and analyse it and subject it to science and logic, they just go with it. Modern social science knows being poor is a matter of circumstances and mostly environmental and can be mitigated to a large degree with education!!!! Other examples would be evolution and global warming, or we don't need to wear masks-lol. Most right wingers do not believe in evolution even though it is settled science, or global warming for the same reason. What primitive thinking really is: This is, in fact, how we used to think a 100 years ago when we were basically concrete thinkers. That is why racism, sexism and homophobia lasted until recently. We had to become abstract thinkers to see how stupid racism, sexism and homophobia are. We had to understand it. Which is the primary difference between Democrats and Republicans, liberals and conservatives. The liberals have moved on to abstract thinking, while the conservatives---to conserve primitive ideas, have for the most part remained concrete thinkers. And this is why the red and blue are so completely separated today. Abstract thinkers are not going to start thinking concretely and concrete thinkers cannot see what abstract thinkers are seeing, and talking about.
