George, if the Z brothers are as tough on their competitors we may all be rich soon<g>. Seriously though, while they immediately and strongly responded to the "scam" allegations, put yourself in their place. I would be royally piss*d too if someone accused me of running a scam. Wouldn't you?

George, I think that the answer to your own question, is that the people of the company you have invested in feel very protective of the company they have built/are building. It's one thing to have hard earned $$ riding on the outcome and to have someone come in and just for kicks try and kick down your sand castle. But when you build the company yourself (and I have a little experience with at least witnessing this process firsthand) with your own blood sweat and tears, attacks on the company are very personal. I can see how being an officer in a company and posting on a public medium like this could be quite difficult at times. In this impersonal medium, some feel that they can say basically whatever they want, unlike in person where they might be risking say getting strangled or something. (VBG) I do wish that that at least part of this could have been handled offline as emotions obviously got pretty high and I hope this will be the case if something like this occurs again. Just my own thoughts...

George,

At the risk of getting on the unpopular side of this debate, I agree with your comments and rationale in your earlier post (#4058). Since Michael and Charles are both new to SI (Michael in December and Charles just today), I'd think there's a good chance they aren't aware of the emotions that often flair on SI threads as a result of statements made by some which are interpreted by others as blasphemous. I know I've seen statements made on other threads that make the hair stand up on the back of my neck but I usually am able to just think "consider the source" and forge ahead. However, IF you haven't seen it before AND you've invested a large portion of your being in something you think is being irrationally attacked, it would be easy to take it personally and could result in the types of reactions we saw from Michael and Charles today.

I know there's been a problem on DCI threads that still weighs heavily on the long term regulars. As most of us have come to learn, that's the reason there are multiple threads -- new ones were started to escape differences of opinion that had degenerated into exchanges full of personal animosity.

I don't think that was the case with "yields" today. Rather, (IMO) he prematurely "shot from the hip" based on incomplete information and then apologized for it later in the day. If it continues for several days (which I doubt), perhaps we could start to make analogies to the earlier DCTC thread problems. If that doesn't happen, I think we should write it off as something to be expected on SI and something which can actually work to our benefit since -- on occation -- VALID constructive criticism will be made that we should pursue even if we initially don't like hearing it.
