The airlines will take their cue from the results of the early vaccines. Several are in trial 3 and some time in the fall we should have a clear indication as to whether they produce enough to get clearance for release to essential workers and those most at risk. Whisper word should leak out very soon with some anecdotal evidence which vaccines are working. I recall one person in the early Moderna vaccine making the rounds about his reaction to the higher doses. I’m sure some of those early adopters will have been followed for months and we will know if it is working. I believe we will conquer this pandemic and in less than 6 months people will be flying again in great numbers. As I said my money is on Boeing being able to liquidate their backlog of 737’s which will not require much investment to get them in running shape. The gov’t will support the airline industry and will not let them fail. All they need is a good pr campaign to get the people comfortable that flying is safe. I know I’m ready willing and able to see the world and flying is the only way to get me there.

I wholly agree that there is risk that all the gains can evaporate in an instant should the virus come back with a vengeance. This is why there are two sides to every trade. That’s why you get these stocks for a 50% discount so yes let the buyer beware. I would,add,that I firmly believe the virus has a limited life so even if it does come back in the fall a vaccine will stop it in its tracks. Then there is the politics involved which is for another board.
