That indeed was a moronic response. You should have said "Well then, why don't you now split it 10 for 1 , and each share would be worth .80> apiece, but hey, I'd have 10 times as much money, right?<<

Let's try to stay fair, here. Stillings did not imply that two shares at 8 dollars are worth more than 1 at 16. If I remember correctly, she asked the caller how long he had been invested, and when the answer was two years, she pointed out that, considering splits, the stock price is higher now than it was two years ago. That happens to be true.

This is an inadequate response, since it sure as hell doesn't help investors who got in any later than that, but it is not quite as stupid as your rendition of it, Rocky.
