It is clear they want to screw future generations, and that is what is necessary. I could design a plan that does the same, with slightly different parameters and it would be just as bad. The solution to SS is the one GWB proposed, which I supported at the time, and would have by now closed the funding gap without a dollar of new taxes. It is insanely stupid that we passed on it then, and I hope Trump will attack it in his second term. He can solve the world's biggest problems (see Tom Friedman in NYT today) and in his second term could solve the problem. Joe Biden will then claim he had a role in solving it as he did today.
