Seems too dramatic>

Quite factual as a snapshot today. True more for Manhattan south of Central Park, as those are normally lively with tourists, office goers, and students. But slowly people are returning to streets (50% with proper masks) and subways (still way under capacity). Brisk business for restaurants with outdoor seating. Road traffic has normalized somewhat - goods are still being shuttled around. The richer areas are emptier as half the people have temporarily moved to their country homes or moved with relatives. Poorer areas have normalized as residents can't get away that easily.

As homeless have been housed in midtown hotels, more homeless and addicts have been spotted in richer areas around Central Park. Central Park itself is crawling with younger people - difficult to socially distance in spite of the large park.

Homicide rate has risen, mainly in 6 precincts - 3 in Manhattan and 3 in Brooklyn. 95% precincts are normal. Homicide rates are still among the lowest in US cities. Overall crime is down slightly.

Rents have come down but the apartment prices not as much.

Definitely not normal, but way better than April 15, when it was like Zombieland.

Normalization may take at least 6-12 months. The mix of businesses and residents will change somewhat.
