Del, life in Europa around volcanic vents is indeed a plausible idea. It is very hard to know what to do with it other than to go there and see. Hopefully that will happen but it is not in the horizon at this point.

The issue I suggested to Jeff gives important clues regarding the environment of Jupiter at the time of satellite formation.

I read your post on the feelings thread to Christine. She is quite right Del, my personality has not changed. But that does not mean that we can not have any fun!

BTW some of the outstanding discrepancies regarding the lifetime of the universe are now being resolved. It appears that the universe is not massive enough to be closed.
