First off, glad to see you back in.

As to the "Yes, in 1996 they announced a stock buy back program. Definitely think this would be a brilliant thing to announce soon." I didn't write that. That was from Linda Pearson. I usually use italics to indicate a quote from a message to which I am replying.

The rest... well, I too did not want to have to dig up the data, but as I recall after both announcements the stock did little or nothing and as someone said on the thread in one of the cases it actually went down! Now that was just the announcements. The actual purchasing of the stock may have affected the stock price but it probably wasn't much as they did not allocate a lot of resources for these buy backs.

I think things have changed a bit. Given current valuations and the cash reserves they have to spend, buying back some stock now could have a much greater influence on the stock price.
